The Citizens’ Opera seeks to make the Opera a welcoming place where everyone can find their place, whatever their life journey.

Its purpose is to create connections: between artists and local residents, between the stage and the wider community, and between artistic creation and the common good.
This work is founded on a simple conviction: encounters with others are an essential source of artistic creation. Every project begins with a meeting, with a child or an adult, and grows out of that person's circumstances, story and lived experience.
Here, artistic excellence is placed at the service of human connection. And connection, in turn, becomes a source of creation. This exchange changes everyone involved: the participants, the artists, and the institution as a whole.
