“Even a butterfly needs the whole sky to fly.” This line by Paul Claudel could stand as the guiding thread of the entire project. With Tout le ciel est nécessaire, writer Nathalie Moine and director Suzie Baret-Fabry, in partnership with the neurology departments of Nancy University Hospital, have imagined a project born from listening, encounters and shared stories. Patients, carers and healthcare workers are invited to share the things that, in their lives, open a breach in the weight of everyday existence: a memory, a piece of music, an image, a dream, a way of holding on, escaping or simply breathing differently. From this intimate material, a performance will emerge like a guide to possible flights, woven from stories, voices, music and scenes infused with poetry, absurdity and gravity. Somewhere between intimate inquiry and musical theatre, Tout le ciel est nécessaire explores that fragile moment when something within us begins to rise. Not to escape reality, but to inhabit it differently — with more space, more freedom, and perhaps already, a little touch of heaven.
