Nancy Jazz Pulsation #1
G. Hartmann + K. Barron
Gabi Hartmann - sextet
We could argue forever about where Gabi Hartmann's voice takes us: to a jazz bar in the basement, a tropical beach at dusk, a terrace on a slope in Lisbon, the depths of a Parisian brasserie on a winter's night... We close our eyes and the shadow of a jazz legend, a bossa nova diva, a black-clad grande dame of French or Portuguese song passes by, somewhere at the crossroads of exquisite chic and breathtaking melancholy, consoling sweetness and shared melancholy. Since her appearance at NJP in 2022, the young singer-songwriter and guitarist has taken flight under the wing of producer Jesse Harris (mentor to Norah Jones, Melody Gardot and Madeleine Peyroux) and is back with a solid line-up.
Kenny Barron piano - solo
79-year-old jazz icon Kenny Barron returns to NJP with "The Source" solo, probably the most beautiful self-portrait of his musical uniqueness. While he has never been anything but himself, either as a leader or as a sideman, Kenny Barron's solo escapades have always served as an eloquent demonstration of that singularity that few pianists ever look straight in the eye with his courage and confidence.
