Rameau Gala

Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine
1 h 30

Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764) was a brilliant theorist and visionary composer who revolutionised opera and the music of his day. His Traités sur l'harmonie, the foundations of modern music theory, testify to his bold and innovative harmonic thinking, which made him one of the most influential figures in French music.

Nowhere better than in the theatre did Rameau express his full creative power, which Sébastien Daucé and his Ensemble Correspondances will be keen to highlight in these excerpts from Dardanus, Hippolyte et Aricie and Les Boréades. They return to Nancy after Charpentier's captivating David et Jonathas, performed two seasons ago. This new baroque journey will feature Petr Nekoranec and Jean-Christophe Lanièce among the voices accompanying Sabine Devieilhe, one of today's finest coloratura sopranos.
