Le Livre sur la Place and the Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine invite you to a debate on Giuseppe Verdi's opera Otello.

From Little Red Riding Hood to Psycho and Scream, countless works depict the murder of their heroines. What, today, should be done with operas that depict violence against women? Historian Christelle Taraud and author Camille Kouchner will discuss this on the eve of the premiere of Otello at the Opera.

Christelle Taraud is a historian specializing in the history of women, gender, and sexuality in colonial contexts. She edited Féminicides: Une histoire mondiale (The Discovery), a work that examines the continuity of violence against women since prehistory.

Camille Kouchner is the author, published by Seuil, of La Familia Grande, which revealed the incest committed by her stepfather, and Immortels, a powerful novel on gender, friendship, and norms.

A signing session will take place on-site, with the participation of the Le Hall du Livre bookstore.
