The Two Hundredth
Beethoven
Ludwig van Beethoven
Violin Concerto
Symphony no 7
Two centuries after his death, Ludwig van Beethoven remains an undiminished force: music that drives forward, lifts us up and transforms listening into a physical experience. This anniversary concert offers a vivid illustration by bringing together two of the most emblematic works of his genius.
First comes the Violin Concerto, in which virtuosity never seeks effect for its own sake but unfolds in a world of nobility, freedom and inward song. Then comes the Symphony No. 7, the work Richard Wagner famously described as “the apotheosis of dance”, driven by irresistible pulse, rhythmic momentum and an energy that never seems to subside.
At the helm of the Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine Orchestra for the third time, violinist and conductor Roman Simovic leads this music of fire, balance and invention from the violin. A Beethoven of blazing energy, radiance and irresistible vitality.
