Hymns
Franck Krawczyk
Citizens, sing, sing!
Anthems bring us together, unite us and transcend time. They are both intimate and collective, steeped in history and emotion. With Hymns, composer Franck Krawczyk, inspired by these melodies rooted in humanity's collective memory, has created a living work in which transmission and sharing lie at the heart of the music.
Performed by the Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine's Orchestra and Children's Outreach Chorus, this project gives a voice to children from diverse backgrounds, brought together around song. Through writing workshops led by playwright Chloé Kobuta, their personal stories are interwoven with Krawczyk's arrangements, creating echoes between the past and the present. Here, music becomes a link, a space where everyone can find their place.
From lullabies to classic unifying songs and famous hymns reinterpreted, this concert is a journey through the melodies that shape us. By revisiting these songs with sensitivity and inventiveness, Hymnes celebrates the force of the collective and that of the voice, which, when united with others, becomes breath, memory and hope.
